This course is intended as an introduction to the making of objects occupying a three-dimensional space, DIY culture and the maker movement on several levels. Through reading and research students will begin to understand the culture and structure of the maker movement and how it can be implemented through user centered design. The focus is on developing creativity and learning through play and tinkering, and in learning the basic operations and capabilities of some common tools for prototyping including: clay and casting, 3D printing, laser and vinyl cutting.
